Coachella for Inspo

This past weekend the music festival took place in California once again. In case you are not aware of what “Coachella” is here’s a quick summary:
This music festival is called “Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival” but it’s better known as Coachella. It is music filled event that lasts for three days and showcase men and women who are high supporters of freedom. This year Coachella was located in Indio, CA.  This event takes place once a year usually during the month of April, there is a wide expression of love and peace that could be portrayed through the apparel of its attendees.
“The original festival frontiers women were all about freedom: expressing peace and love with flowing dresses and tresses, liberating their bodies and minds, bearing their bellies and weaving daisy-chain jewelry. These days, it’s a slightly different story. Don’t let the fringe fool you—Coachella is high fashion. But that doesn’t mean it’s any less authentic. After all, what could be more liberating than Katy Perry in chandelier earrings, Rita Ora in a chic crop top, or Alessandra Ambrosio in a pair of neon jean shorts? These women go afield in whatever they like. Talk about free spirits.”—Vogue
And the reason why I am mentioning it today is because Coachella is an event that many look forward to. It is a fashion movement event that set trends for what is left of the spring and the upcoming summer.
See what most of the recognized celebrities and fashion bloggers are wearing. I have searched all of my favorite fashion websites (WhoWhatWear, Fashionista, and Vogue) and picked my favorite outfits.

(Some are rather interesting!)

Trending: Sunnies and Eyewear

Trending: Sunnies and Eyewear

 ¡Suerte!

Spring is officially here! Beautiful flowers all around us, birds chirping in the mornings, and of course, the sun.  And since spring is here to stay and the summer is right around the corner, I thought I should give you a trend report on the season’s hottest eyewear trend, round sunnies. And since the sun here in the Valley seems to be extra bright, why not protect your eyes fashionably, right?

So with that in mind I’ve looked all around for the best and cutest choices especially for you. Below is a small collage I’ve made with my favorite frames and designs, and of course the best prices.

Report: The cutest sunnies were found in Asos and Polyvore, however the prices were a bit high. If you’re looking for lower prices you could check out Forever 21 and a mega awesome site a friend introduced me to, Zerouv. I was a bit disappointed, H&M didn’t have such great options. Oh, and Ebay is also a really good option. Just search for “round sunnies” or “round sunglasses” and you’ll find a great variety!

How to wear them: Since these sunglasses are in style right now you could wear them with just about anything. They could be worn with simple skinnies and a top or denim pants. When wearing the sunnies you could give your simple outfit a more elegant look. Summer dresses, shorts or cropped pants with Peplums also look lovely with them. Basically with everything!

Doubt? : If you wonder what type of frame would look better with your facial structure you could read this very interesting article that I found for more information, “The Sun Authority.” But, if you ask me I would opt for the “Round cat-eye (4),” because I think that this style tends to be rather favorable with most faces.

In conclusion, welcome the spring/summer sun in style.

Good luck!

Amazing Manis

Amazing Manis

Have you ever come to realize that there is no one like you? Take a minute to appreciate the fact that you are unique. There is only one you in this whole, wide world.

Isn’t it awesome to know that we’re all different? I think it’s pretty amazing that we’re all special and that each one of us has different interests and talents. When some might be in love with shoes, like me, others might really, really like something else.

It was not until last semester, when I got my Stiletto nails done, that I realized how much I liked having my nails done. And with that epiphany in mind I started noticing beautiful nails around me. One day I randomly noticed that the girl that sits in front of me in one of my class always had the most creative and amazing manis I had ever seen. I approached her to see where got her manicures done, and was shocked with her response—she does hr own creations!

And since fashion is wide and versatile I thought she and her nails deserved some recognition.

So here ya, here’s a little on her and her nail fashion.

I hope you like it.

Stripes stripping and Peplum.

 Stripes stripping and Peplum.

Besos,

Saira

Lately I've noticed that I am completely obsessed with stripes, especially if they’re black and white. There’s something about them that have me completely captivated. And it is because they are the season’s most solicited clothing and colors.

As a matter of fact stripes, in that same color, are in right now—I love them!

Wear them from head to toe, literally. And even if they say that stripes make you look bigger, it doesn't matter, you should still wear them, they’re mega pretty. Obviously all in good taste.

And yes, the Peplum shirts are also the best. I think I was going to used them as much but now I realize that I love them because they make any outfit look more elegant.

Today I would describe my outfit as Indie-Chic. If you’re looking for a simple, comfy and at the same time chic outfit, I would say this would be the ideal one. Oh, and if for a strange reason you hair wasn't cooperating with you in the morning, don’t worry just wear a lovely hat. It will save you time and will prevent a huge headache, trust me.

And you, what do you think, do you like it?
Besos,

Saira

¿Tu gusta?

Besos,

I was surprised to have been chosen as one of the fortunate ‘fashionistas’ of the week.
Trust me it took me by surprise, it was so unexpected. I feel truly honored to have been recognized as a ‘fashionista.’ I mean, yeah of course I like fashion and dressing nice and getting dressed up and you know, but once others recognize it, that’s another story!

In conclusion, one of the ‘fashion gurus’ from ‘CollegeFashionista’ caught me between classes and asked me if she could take pictures of my outfit because she liked them, and of course I said yes. As a matter of fact my look that day was of a lazy day, I was so comfortable!

Oh, these are my favorite tennis. They’re super comfortable and I wear them all the time—I love them! Heeled-sneakers were very in last season and like by magic you’ll be seeing them everywhere this season too! ‘High-low’ skirts came to stay, buy them every color possible!

So if you’re looking for a sporty-comfy look and the same time chic, maybe this could be an option. What I like about it is that you could play around with it by just changing the shoes.
Do you like it?

Besos,

Saira

Pocahontas

Pocahontas
Besos,
Saira Trev

One day while we were getting out of class a friend asked me if “fringe” was still in style. And it was then that I realized that certain things never really pass. I personally really like everything that is indie, hippie, or simply Pocahontas style—I love it. Depending on your personal way of dressing, I truly believe that “fringe” won’t be out of fashion because it really has to do with the style of dressing that pleases you more.
Remember that fashion really isn’t about what others are wearing, but adding your personal touch to the trends of the season.
So to answer my friend’s question, I say yes, “fringe” never really goes out of style, but in moderation please. You could use it with purses, jackets, blouses and even footwear.
I hope this is of help.
Kisses,

A final advice

A final advice

¡A estudiarle cariño!

The famous finals days are here. And while we slowly die between books, essays, study guides and caffeine overdoses, I thought it would be a good idea to ask some of the UTPA’s fashionistas to gives us some tips on how to survive and pass our final exams.

I hope they are of great help.

Remember, what is worth it in life never comes easy.

Get studying darling!

But if we worked hard all the semester and made sure to keep our grades up all semester, you shouldn’t really worry about it. There are so many services UTPA offers to help you get caught up. The tutoring services here are great. And when it’s all over, you’ll feel happy with yourself.”
